WHY SHOULD WE CLEAN A TENNIS COURT?

Tennis balls wear out rapidly during the game, indeed the professionals replace them often during tournaments. In a short time, the nylon fibres that come off the balls turn into dangerous dust for the under-effort lungs of professionals and amateurs, but also for those of the referees and the public. It is really important to pick up efficiently dust and fibres, in order to ensure that the court is safe for the athletes and the supporters.

 

But how do you clean a tennis court? And which system is most suitable to its floor cladding?

TYPES OF CLADDING OF A TENNIS COURT (OR A PADDLE COURT)

Tennis courts  are frequently made of:

  • Clay Court (red, or more seldom green or blue)
  • Natural grass
  • Synthetic grass
  • Cement
  • Rubberished synthetic grounds
  • Moquette ( made of polypropylene or nylon)

A machine or a cleaning system that ensures the best result in the shortest time and with the smallest effort can be chosen for every type of floor.

 

HOW TO CLEAN A TENNIS COURT?

According to the cladding, the tennis court has its own charachteristics that make it a court more favorable to certain players than to others. This big differences often causes the players to specialize to play on a specific type of court.

And since the playing courts are so different one from another, the way of cleaning them obviously depends on the charachteristics of the cladding. Here’s how to find the RCM machine most suitable to the related tennis court.

Clay court and Natural grass are two types of court on which is not possible to utilize cleaning machines. The ground needs to be treated in a specific way: it needs to be levelled and ruled over. With the Natural grass is used the same process as with a traditional field.

For every other type of playing court, instead, there is a RCM machine that can clean efficiently. Here’s how:

 

Synthetic grass
The specific RCM cleaning machines for synthetic grass are ALFA ACE or BRAVA ACE. The ACE kit allows to clean the ground and remove dust and fibres that come off from tennis ball, “combing” the synthetic grass and redistribuiting uniformly the remaining sand. In just one step, with the RCM cleaning machine, the court is ready to be used to play.

Cement and rubberished synthetic grounds
It is suggested to use a powerful sweeper with dimensions that allows it to enter the field through the gates. RCM suggests ALFA, BRAVA and SLALOM.

Moquette
RCM recommends various machines to clean the moquette, such as ALFA CARPET, MEGA I, CARPET and SLALOM CARPET.

Carpet Cleaning System is the most recommended system to sweep (Carpet Sweeping System) or to scrub (Carpet Scrubbing System) to use the potential of a sweeper and a scrubber drier when you need to clean great surfaces of moquette (feltroni or velours), allowing immediately to step on it without risks.
